Note: The C6200 is 6U high. Make sure that you allow for the appropriate amount of space for the appliance and disk shelves in your rack. You must also use the supplied rack mount kit when installing the C6200.

Preparing for the upgrade

To prepare for the upgrade, complete the following steps.

Note: The following steps assume that you are upgrading to a C6200 with the same names and system IP addresses.

Step Action
1 Check the System Configuration Guide to ensure that the disk shelves are supported on the C6200 and to ensure that the network cards used in the C6100 are supported in the C6200. Also check the slot assignments for these cards.

Note: This procedure assumes that you have DS14 disk shelves, with optical adapters, attached to your C6100. If you have DS14 disk shelves with copper adapters, you must replace them with optical adapters. If you have other types of disk shelves, contact Customer Support.

2 Check the Media Kit in your C6200 packaging for the version of NetCache software shipped with your C6200. You must install the same version level on your C6100.
3 Go to the NOW site at http://now.netapp.com/NOW/main/software.shtml and download the C6100 version of NetCache software that matches the version with the C6200 Media Kit.
4 Check the shipment contents to ensure that you have the correct number of LC-to-SC cables for the C6200.
